Under the direction of the Dean, the Research Institute is responsible for providing an administrative and managerial framework for the research policy of the Faculty of Law as well as the various research programmes carried out within the Faculty.
The implementation of the Faculty research policy and research programmes by the Research Institute is conducted in close collaboration with the leaders of the research centres and groups within the faculty. The Research Institute also promotes and stimulates research within and outside the Faculty.
The tasks of the research institute include the preparation of the research assessment reports. In 2012, the faculty research institute was renamed Amsterdam Research Institute for Legal Studies (ARILS).
