Wim Zimmermann PhD Candidate at ACIL
In September, Wim Zimmermann will be starting as a PhD researcher at the ACIL, where he will explore the intersections between compliance theory and critical international legal theory in international law.
Wim holds three Bachelor's degrees (in Law, Sociology, and Human Geography and Urban Planning) and graduated cum laude for his Master’s degree in Public International Law at the University of Amsterdam. He then worked as a research trainee at the T.M.C. Asser Institute before spending a year in practice at the Center for International Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters within the Public Prosecution Service.
Wim’s research will explore the intersections between compliance theory and critical international legal theory in international law. Specifically, it will seek to reveal connections between decentralized enforcement mechanisms on the one hand, and interpretation and indeterminacy on the other.
