Event to celebrate the 100th RIEB meeting
100th meeting of the Working Group On the Law of International Economic Relations
The event, organized by the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance and the Amsterdam Center for International Law, will be held on 17 May 2018
It marks the celebration of the 100th meeting of the Working Group on the Law of International Economic Relations. The group, which was founded in the 1980s, consists of academics and practitioners who work in the field of the European Union’s trade and external economic policy and its connections to international economic law, including the law of the WTO, the IMF and the world-wide rules on international investment.
On this occasion, the Working Group has decided to organize a public event. We have invited two speakers, an academic and a practitioner, Professor Piet Eeckhout of the University College London and Frank Hoffmeister of the European Commission, who each have also been and are still active in practice and academia, to speak on the future of the Union’s Trade Policy from different perspectives, followed by debate. Chatham House rules will apply.
Piet Eeckhout is Professor of European Law and Dean of the Law Faculty, University College London
Frank Hoffmeister is Head of Unit at DG Trade, European Commission and Professor at the Institute for European Studies of the Vrije Universiteit, Brussels
Prof. Dr Stephan Schill, University of Amsterdam
Koninklijke Industrieele Groote Club, Dam 4, Amsterdam
Participation is free, but you are requested to register at email@example.com by 9 May at the latest
