Irina holds a joint Ph.D. degree from the University of Copenhagen and the University of Iceland, researching consumer vulnerability and mortgage debt in EU contract law. She also holds two state exams in law from Germany and an LL.M. in International Environmental and Natural Resource Law from the University of Iceland. She was also involved at the European Regulatory Private Law Project at the European University Institute in Florence. Previously, Irina has worked as a researcher at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Policy in Germany and as a lawyer at LOGOS legal services in Iceland.
Her research interest covers various legal and socio-legal aspects of privatization and contract law. In her research at UvA she seeks to understand the interplay of different levels of regulation of access to housing in cities, where private and public law intertwine on different regulatory levels.
