The role of judicial assistants in Dutch district courts

Law

22Sept2017 12:00 - 13:00

PhD defence ceremony

Judicial assistants do more than just transcribe court proceedings. Nina Holvast asks in what way judicial assistants are involved in the judicial decision-making process, and what consequences their involvement has for the manner in which adjudication takes place. She examines the benefits and hazards of employing judicial assistants from two points of view: the managerial perspective and the perspective of rule of law.
