For more than 10 times in a row, the annual prize for the best publication of the academic year will be awarded to a young faculty researcher. The goal of the prize is to strengthen and support the research culture within the Amsterdam Law School and to give young researchers publicity for their work. The prize consists of an amount of € 1,000 to be used for research activities.

The following conditions apply: 

  • the applicant is currently a PhD candidate or has received his/her PhD less than 5 years ago. The base date for this rule is 1 January 2024*;
  • the work submitted should be a published paper (books are not allowed) and only 1 paper per author can be submitted;
  • the publication must have been published between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.

All submissions will be judged by a jury consisting of 3 experts. They will assess the scientific originality, thoroughness, and the ‘cross-border nature’ of the publication.

How to submit

If you think your work qualifies, please send an electronic version of your publication and your resume before 15 March 2024 to arils-fdr@uva.nl.

*In the case of care responsibilities, pregnancy or illness it is possible to receive an extension to the number of years after the PhD graduation. Please check the prize regulations.
