Patricia presented her collaborative research at the European Privacy Law Scholars Conference (PLSC-E), discussing an upcoming book chapter on fairness in the EHDS. This event, organized by the team at the Institute for Information Law (IViR), offered a platform for scholarly dialogue.
Together with Mahsa Shabani and James Hazel, Patricia had the opportunity to visit the section of Community Genetics at the Department of Clinical Genetics at Amsterdam UMC, following an invitation from Dr Carla van El. This visit aimed to foster collaboration between the two universities and provided an opportunity to gain valuable insights into the team's research and discuss potential synergies and future collaborative efforts.
Additionally, Patricia shared her preliminary study findings at our monthly Research Lunch. Her qualitative study explores the perspectives of health data experts on the EHDS’s implementation. Engaging with our colleagues, Patricia received insights and feedback.
To conclude her visit, Patricia taught a session on the bachelor-level course ‘Global Health and International Law.’ She introduced students to her research framework, grounded in Article 8 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and illustrated the importance of fairness in the secondary use of health data. The session included practical case studies, allowing students to explore challenges surrounding health data fairness in real-world contexts.
